Webelos is for those who have completed 3rd grade and prepares them to join a Scouts BSA troop while learning outdoors skills.
A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an ‘adult-run’ den to being a ‘scout-run’ patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous boy scouting troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity.
Webelos Leader:
Every Webelos Den is required to have a registered den leader whose responsibilities include:
- Work directly with other den leaders to ensure that their den is an active and successful part of the pack.
- Coordinate leadership among the Webelos den scouts, ensuring that den meetings and outings are planned, prepared for, and conducted by all scouts on a rotating basis, and that the den activities provide advancement opportunities for the scouts in the den.
- Attend committee meetings.
- Lead the den at meetings and pack activities.
- Ensure the transition of scouts in the Webelo den into an AOL den at the end of the year.
The uniform is integral to the Scouting program. It identifies the scouts and adults with Webelos and gives them a sense of belonging to the den, the pack, and the Boy Scouts of America. The uniform distinguishes Webelos from other Cub Scouts. Scouts and leaders should wear it to all den meetings, pack meetings, and special pack activities.
The pack provides each NEW scout with one class B t-shirt uniform. We wear these to help identify the group when we are out doing physical activities in our community. We encourage our families to pick up a class B for everyone in the family.
